Soft and flexible, but also lightweight and durable, HADOU is well suited for any occasion! Perfect for those looking for a first Bogu set, or for those who are looking for a good quality, yet good value 100% made in Japan armor. The 6mm stitching allows for excellent comfort, and also leaves the Futon thick and padded, providing additional protection, yet the tighter stitching on the Mendare allows for a nice shape to be formed, ensuring that you still look great whilst wearing it. That being said, HADOU is far from flashy. Rather, the overall design is intentionally simplistic, and understated, allowing for a functional, yet dignified appearance.
The HADOU Men is completely made to order to your exact sizes, using high quality Shoai-zome cotton, and top-grade synthetic deerskin for the reinforcements. The design is simplistic overall, and features straight 'Gunomezashi' stitching on the Mendare, allowing for easy shaping. The MUGEN Original Mengane is an originally designed Mengane, featuring an improved balance, giving improved lateral vision, and has reinforced Titanium bars in the strike zone. This gives the optimum balance of being lightweight, and also extremely strong. Further, the Mengane is coated with an original high-gloss coating, which strengthens the surface, preventing chips, cracks and dents. Finally the MUGEN Original Mengane is finished with matte grey on the inside, giving a cool and discreet outlook.
Utilizing our original 'Infinity Grip' technology, HADOU presents the culmination of generations of expertise in crafting premium Kendo equipment. The HADOU Kote are made, not only to your EXACT sizes and specifications, but they are made to – what we believe – to be the optimum design, allowing an unparalleled level of comfort, and ease of use. The full Orizashi design makes the HADOU Kote lightweight, and quick drying. Further, the 6mm Nagazashi stitching gives a great level of cushioning.
As with the rest of the Bogu set, the HADOU Tare is reinforced using genuine Japanese ‘Aizome’ dyed Orizashi cotton, #8,800 grade cotton, and top-grade synthetic deerskin (shin leather).

This was my first completely new armor set after about 5 years of kendo practice. The one I had before was a used set that was already about 3 or 4 years old when I got it. Compared to that one, this set immediately surprised me with its light weight, even though it is not specifically marketed as a super light armor.
Overall I am extremely satisfied with it. The men is especially light and soft and can easily be formed. After about two weeks of usage I can confidently say that it protects really well while retaining mobility completely. The inside is really soft and comfortable as well. The kote are also flexible and protect perfectly - I have always needed additional kote protectors with my two previous pairs, however now I have retired them!
One thing I was most apprehensive of was the fit of the armor. Turns out there was no need to worry at all, since everything fits perfectly - no chin cushions or other cheats necessary.
Shipping was the last factor that surprised me with its speed and efficiency. The bogu set was sent from the facility in Kumamoto on a Tuesday and arrived at my home in Germany the following Thursday - including customs handling!
In summary I can only recommend this armor set for the intermediate kendoka who neither wants to spend too little or too much. Its extremely light weight plus its great protection are ideal for fast and hard keiko. Thank you, AJB!
