  2. Fantastic suburi bokken 5 Star Review

This bokken is great for indoors. No more hitting the ceiling or smashing lamps for me. Weight is perfect for beginners in my opinion and makes handle a normal shinai easier. Bear in mind that this is a bokken although is shaped and carved to resemble a shinai, it is a solid piece of wood that smells really good btw.

  5. Even Better Than The Pictures 5 Star Review

So...What I got and what the pictures depict are slightly different. First off, the picture may lead you to think that this suburi bokken is constructed in a similar fashion as a shinai, with separate slats of bamboo. You'd be wrong. As far as I can tell, it's all one piece. This goes for the one in the pictures, and the one that I got.
Moving on, the suburi bokken I got seems to be made of a much darker wood, which I actually like. Furthermore, the inscription is actually carved into the wood.

Whether or not these differences equate to a difference in weight or quality, I do not have enough experience to say for sure. What I can say is that I think it looks more distinct than what the pictures initially portray.

Finally, the weight...this bokken must be the offspring of a shinai and an oversized police baton. It's hard to believe that this is only double the weight of a regular shinai. I can swing it around indoors, as advertised, and it gives me an excellent workout.

It also has a wonderful-albeit distracting- smell.
